Topchan, tapshan, chorpoya, seuri, kat, whatever their name, be it hidden under shady vine arbours or urban on the terraces of the chaykhanas, they offer their boards for improvised councils, for sober drinks and for sumptuous banquets, for poetic sleepinesses and nights filled with dreams of the the Silk Road travellers. They are the witnesses of Omar Khayyam's poetry, Nasreddine Hodja's jokes and the adventures of the Thousand and One nights heroine.
